Do you really want a generator?
Many new mobile groomers believe that they need a generator, but not all groomers should have one. The benefit of having a generator is that your salon will have twice as much power to run equipment. This allows the use of both the air conditioner and the dryer at the same time–a necessity for hot or humid climates. However, simply using an extension cord (which is provided with each salon) which plugs into a client’s home or garage is plenty of power for many groomers. In that case, even on a really hot day, there is enough power to run the air conditioner or dryer separately. When the time comes to dry the dog, the groomer simply turns off the air conditioner and turns on the dryer. By the time the trailer starts to heat up, the dog will be dry and the groomer can then turn the air conditioner on again. By simply being mindful, a groomer can save a lot of money by using an extension cord instead of a generator. If a time comes when a groomer decides to “upgrade” to a generator, GT builds the standard grooming trailer for easy modifications later on.
• Example: A GT customer in Seattle purchased their first trailer with a generator. After one year and wanting to expand the business and having some experience, he purchased a SECOND grooming trailer for his fleet with NO generator but with our standard powered roof fan. The powered roof fan provides a “cool breeze” while drying dogs.
